The name of my blog is Kay in the Digital World. I really mean I would like to rethink who I am and how I interact with the digital world. Through the five blog posts, I analyse my digital life in different aspects. And I have also tried to look at the phenomenon in the society.
The blog post I have chosen is an evaluation of my use of facebook. It is the communication technology taking most of the proportion of my communication time. And I believe it is also the case of many people. After the evaluation, I have obviously changes the way of using facebook. I think of it in a new way.
Before the evaluation, I thought it is a platform for me to communicate with my friends. Now, I think it is somewhere for me to keep all my connections. I do not feel strange to have been allowed to access others’ news. This is the affordances of the new technology that I’d better accept it. And, if the constraint of using facebook is that I have to learn how to protect my personal information better, I’d better learn it as fast as I can but not giving up facebook.
And the video in this post really shows that the use of social network website is not a personal choice anymore. How you use the network is greatly influenced by people around you. That is, the online world is also influencing the real world. And as we can see from the communication in the daily life,
the two ‘worlds’ are now inseparable.
